As the silly season approaches we’re warming up the vocal chords for some inevitable post-party karaoke. Here’s what we’ll be belting out.

Sue – I love the instant happy vibe of Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners. What’s not to love about a fiddle intro and singing “ta-loo-rye-aye”. You’ll find me reaching for the microphone whenever this song comes on.

Kendi – I’m going to go with What’s Up by 4 Non Blondes. Great tune, instantly dates me as a 90s teen, yet matches nicely with my current cranky middle aged woman vibe.

Alex – At a HC Xmas party once, I might have belted out ‘I just can’t wait to be king’ from the Lion King, and knew it word for word – so I guess that’s my karaoke song now?

Shereen – Some people love karaoke, but me? Let’s just say it’s really not my scene. However, in some parallel universe where I’m forced to grab the mic (but seriously, I would never… ), I might consider Lady Gaga’s “Shallow”. Purely because it’s a fun, epic song to belt out. But let’s be clear: it’s not happening. Ever.

Karen – Two favourites: Crowded House’s Better be Home Soon is a special one, but if we are talking the ultimate pub belter, which somewhat strangely, my 20-year-old and teenage sons now sing too, it has to be Cold Chisel’s Flame Trees.
