I came on board as a contractor when I was expecting my first baby. I had lots of experience in the fields we specialise in, so it was a good fit, but at first, I thought it would just be a short-term role to keep me engaged while my kids were little. As it turned out, I’ve had so many opportunities to learn, travel, upskill, scare myself, and succeed, that I’ve never wanted to leave.
What’s your workplace superpower?
I can always cut to the chase. I’m good at unearthing the simple message that underpins everything else. I’m also known for the occasional reality check. Every workplace needs a devil’s advocate sometimes.
What do you love most about your job?
I really, really, really love meeting people and finding their story, and then finding the link between that story and whatever my client is trying to achieve. There’s a perfect sweet spot where business goals and storytelling overlap and I love working in that space.
What’s the most useful piece of advice you could pass on?
Ask questions, about everything, from everyone. Stay curious.
What do you do when you’re not on the job?
I love to bake, which is good, because I also like golf but I am hopeless at it, so I bring the snacks.
