We’ve made it part of our mission to support the transformation of Western Sydney, by basing ourselves in Parramatta, connecting with Parramatta Council to deliver training to local businesses, and being actively involved in events that recognise and invigorate business in this critical region. When we heard that Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue had secured the PM to headline a lunch event at Olympic Park, where he was to share his vision for the region, we were quick to lock in a table.
The key topic for the PM was one that is also very much top of mind for just about all our clients – the value of diversity. As he said:
“We know our diversity of thought and experience is a gift that will fuel better dialogue and find better solutions. And when everyone helps lay a strong foundation, the future we build together will be a better one.”
You can see the full address from Prime Minister Albanese here.
It was a great opportunity not only to hear from our still-pretty-new PM, but also to surround ourselves with people who really believe in the future of Western Sydney. The room was packed with people from different sectors, and we were fortunate at our own table to host two leaders from the manufacturing sector, an Indigenous leader, a place developer, a journalist and a start-up supporter.
It was also a reminder of the incredible talent this part of Sydney produces. You would think the PM would be the star attraction at the PM lunch, but he was given a real run for his money by Bankstown slam poet Sara Mansour. If you don’t know what slam poetry is, or if poetry is not your thing, this may change your mind – check it out here.
